The LEMS Science Olympiad Team competed in their first competition on Saturday December 2nd. The team of 11 students competed in the different events at the National Catherdral School in Washing D. C..
The competition featured some of the strongest teams on the east coast. There were teams from three different states and of course Washington D.C.. It was a great event for our students to see what the competition is like and what they need to continue to work on as they prepare for the Maryalnd Regional Competiton on February 24th at the University of Maryland. The team was able to medal in two events, Anatomy and Phsiology and also Dynamic Planet. The students represented LEMS very well throughout the competion and we also appreciate the support of the parents who helped that day with organizing and getting the students to the different events.
The Science Olympiad consists of 23 events that cover many different areas of science. It is a great opportunity for students to work in the area of science and engineering. There are some new events this year, such at Battery Buggie and Thermodynamics. At the competition the team of 15 students work in the different contests either taking tests or competing in build events.
